I’ve seen old black and white 🎥🎞 where they had more space than that and only paid $35-50 or so in rent. Sure, they had rules, no overnight visitors, and had to have company leave at a "respectable" hour 😬 8pm.

I don’t believe the bunk bed would fit. The mattress fits with maybe 3 inches of space, but the metal edges of the bunk bed would take up more space than that.
A soft cushion is different from a very hard big chunk of steel that you have to turn sideways! And there is a sink in there too!!
